Sewer Rehabilitation with Pipe Relining
Here at emu., you might know that we’re going to bring up pipe relining any chance that we get! So let’s get to it!
Pipe relining essentially creates a brand new section of pipe to the damaged areas of a sewer or stormwater drain using an incredibly strong silicate or epoxy resin lining. This means that we can repair any cracks, leaks or breaches without having to dig up and replace a whole drainage system.
We’ve used pipe relining to complete hundreds of jobs across Brisbane to ensure sewer and stormwater systems back up and running as fast as possible! But here’s just one of our favourites: Combining robotic cutting (who you’ll meet next!) and pipe relining, we were able to repair an extremely damaged sewer pipe located under the floor of a bar!

High-Pressured Water Jetting and Robotic Cutting
This is often the first step in a longer process in sewer rehabilitation, but sometimes the damage is simply a build up of tree roots and other debris and other things.
We recently completed a job that saw us grind through concrete that had built up within a sewer system. Using our state of the art technology, we were able to utilise our robotic cutters to create a pathway for the relining process to take place and completely repair the pipe, all without using excavation!

Excavation and Renewal
When damage to a pipe is located in an area that’s easily accessible, i.e. not underneath foundational structures, it can often be quicker and easier to simply dig the pipe up and replace it.
However, when the pipes are severely damaged, relining is not always possible as there’s nothing for the liner to attach itself to. Unfortunately we don’t have the technology to create a pipe when there isn’t one there already…yet!
Recently in Taringa, we encountered damage to a sewer system so severe that it was crushed beyond repair! This made pipe relining impossible. So we had to work hard to find an alternative solution.
